Stewartsville/Osborn will challenge Rock Port on the road at 7:00 PM on Friday. It might come down to the wire as the MaxPreps national rankings project a close contest.
There's no need to mince words: Stewartsville/Osborn lost to Mound City/Craig last Friday, and they lost bad. The score wound up at 0-66. The game was over by the end of the first half, with no points scored by either team from that point forward.
Meanwhile, Rock Port simply couldn't be stopped, as they easily beat South Nodaway/Jefferson 68-22. The matchup was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 40-16.
Rock Port's win lifted them to 2-0 while Stewartsville/Osborn's defeat dropped them down to 1-1. In their victory, Rock Port relied heavily on senior Gavin Abbott, who rushed for 210 yards and 5 touchdowns; a key strategy for Stewartsville/Osborn will lie in finding a way to minimize his impact.
