San Diego extended their losing streak to four on Tuesday, dropping them down to 10-12-1. They came up short against the Lincoln Hornets, falling 16-10. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Hornets this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 5-2 back in March.
Estefania Montana made the most of her time in the batter's box despite the final result and went 3-for-4 with two stolen bases, one run, and one double. That double marked the first that she has hit this season. Another player making a difference was Mia Mercado, who went 2-for-5 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one double.
As for Lincoln, the win snapped their losing streak at seven games and leaves them with a 9-9 record. They might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won eight matchups by six runs or more this season.
On Lincoln's side, Ashly Pineda made a big impact no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out nine batters over seven innings while giving up seven earned (and three unearned) runs off eight hits. Pineda was also stellar in the batter's box, going 3-for-5 with three stolen bases, three runs, and two RBI. Those three stolen bases gave her a new career-high.
In other batting news, Jada Blackman was a standout: she went 3-for-5 with three RBI, two runs, and one stolen base. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in February. Brissa Hernandez was another key player, going 2-for-5 with three RBI, one run, and one double.
San Diego has already played their next game, a 14-0 loss against Coronado on the 30th. As for Lincoln, they also didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next contest, a 17-3 defeat against Madison on the 30th.
