On Saturday, the Batavia Bulldogs faced the Loyola Academy Ramblers in a battle between two of the state's top teams. Batavia fell 59-49 to Loyola Academy. The result was an unpleasant reminder to Batavia of the 46-26 loss they experienced in the two teams' previous head-to-head fixture back in January of 2017.
Several Bulldogs players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Brooke Carlson, who scored 18 points along with five assists. Carlson is on a roll when it comes to points, as she's now scored 15 or more in the last nine games she's played. Another player making a difference was Kylee Gehrt, who scored ten points along with five rebounds.
Batavia's defeat dropped their record down to 16-5. As for Loyola Academy, the win for they keeps them at an undefeated 21-0.
Batavia will be playing in front of their home fans against Lake Zurich at 6:30 p.m. on Monday. Lake Zurich will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Illinois Rankings (they are ranked 68th, while Batavia is ranked fifth). As for Loyola Academy, they will face off against Lake Central at 10:30 a.m. on Monday. Lake Central is looking to tack on another W to their ten-game streak on the road.
