The Leilehua Mighty Mules are on the road again on Thursday and play against the Moanalua Menehune at 6:45 p.m. on November 30th. Both teams come into the matchup bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Last Saturday, Leilehua faced Mid-Pacific Institute in a battle between two of the state's top teams. Leilehua took down Mid-Pacific Institute 62-47.
Meanwhile, even though Hanalani scored an imposing 57 points on Sunday, Moanalua still came out on top. Moanalua strolled past Hanalani with points to spare, taking the game 72-57.
Moanalua's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Gavin Pommerenk, who scored 19 points along with 5 assists and 5 rebounds. That makes it three consecutive games in which Pommerenk has scored at least 25% of Moanalua's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Isaiah Kimbrough, who dropped a double-double on 14 points and 11 rebounds.
Leilehua now has a winning record of 2-1. As for Moanalua, their win bumped their record up to 1-2.
Leilehua might still be hurting after the 75-51 loss they got from Moanalua in their previous meeting back in November of 2018. Can Leilehua avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
