Despite the loss, Tremont still got an impressive performance from Nate Ruffin, who dropped a double-double on 21 points and 11 rebounds. The contest was Ruffin's fifth in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Shawn Burroughs, who scored 6 points along with 5 assists and 5 rebounds.
Smithville's win bumped their record up to 1-2. As for Tremont, they bumped their record down to 1-6 with that defeat, which was their third straight at home.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Smithville will face off against Mantachie at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. One thing working in Mantachie's favor is that they have posted big point totals in their last four matchups. As for Tremont, they will head out on the road to face off against Wheeler at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Wheeler presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Tremont in Mississippi (Wheeler is ranked 72nd, while Tremont is ranked 256th).
