Two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but unfortunately for the Red Mountain Mountain Lions, they weren't the ones who walked away with it. Their tough 40-20 defeat to the Sabercats on Saturday might stick with them for a while. Red Mountain's loss signaled the end of their three-game winning streak.
Red Mountain lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Simon Lopez, who threw for 191 yards and two touchdowns while completing 77.3% of his passes. Another player making a difference was IsaiaH Savoie, who rushed for 88 yards and a touchdown.
Saguaro got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Jacob Brown out in front who rushed for 116 yards and two touchdowns on only ten carries. Those two rushing touchdowns set a new season-high mark for Brown. Jaci Dickerson did his part to keep the secondary busy, picking up 133 receiving yards and a touchdown.
On the other side of the ball, a lot of the credit has to go to Saguaro's defense and their four sacks. Leading the way was Elias Johnson and his two sacks.
Red Mountain's defeat ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 7-7. As for Saguaro, their victory was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 9-5.
Red Mountain does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Saguaro also has no future games currently scheduled.
