Softball Recap: Ware Shoals' Winning Streak Snapped at Four Games

If Ware Shoals was riding high fresh off their 18-0 takedown of Emerald on Monday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. Ware Shoals fell just short of Dixie by a score of 7-6 on Tuesday. Ware Shoals' defeat signaled the end of their four-game winning streak.

Stella Eichhorn was huge no matter where she played even without the win. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out ten batters over 6.1 innings while giving up just one earned (and six unearned) runs off eight hits (and only one walk). She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than seven strikeouts in four consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-4 with one home run and two RBI.

Eichhorn wasn't the only one making solid contact as seven players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Sarah Vinson, who scored two runs while going 2-for-4.

Ware Shoals' loss dropped their record down to 7-6. As for Dixie, their win was their tenth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 17-2.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Ware Shoals will face off against Thornwell at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Hornets will need to watch out since the Saints have now posted at least ten runs in their last three matches. As for Dixie, they will take on Ninety Six at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday.
