Westminster (Md.) came into Saturday's contest ranked No. 5 in Maryland, but was stunned by
Quince Orchard (Gaithersburg, Md.), 21-19. Quince Orchard was ranked at No. 15 in the MaxPreps Freeman Rankings for Maryland coming into the week.
The Owls pulled ahead on a passing touchdown, and subsequently went into halftime leading 19-14. The Cougars took the lead for good with a passing touchdown in the third quarter.
Quince Orchard led by as many as 14 points before Westminster cut into the final margin.
QO's standout player in the win was
Matt Choi. The senior quarterback ran for one touchdown.
The defeat comes as a step back for Westminster, which notched a 62-28 victory over Sherwood in its previous outing.
WHS (12-1) faces off against Meade in a playoff game its next time out. The Mustangs enter the contest having posted a 10-2.
