Harding Academy put the finishing touches on their 4th blowout victory of the season on Friday. They blew past Marshall 41-8.
The Harding Academy offense pulled no punches in the first half and blazed their way to 41 points. Meanwhile, Marshall couldn't get anything going offensively, leaving the score at 41-0 heading into the break. Harding Academy were outscored in the second half, but Marshall's efforts were ultimately no more than a drop in the ocean.
Junior Stone Sheffield, who rushed for 134 yards and 2 touchdowns, was a major factor in Harding Academy's success. Sheffield has been a consistent playmaker for Harding Academy as this was the 4th good game in a row from him. Senior Davis Morgan was in the mix, too, providing Harding Academy with two touchdowns.
The victory (their 4th in a row) raised Harding Academy's record to 6-2. Marshall are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-7.
Harding Academy will have some time to rest before their next match, which is against Hampton in two weeks at 7:00 PM. Harding Academy have seen their point totals decreasing over the past three games, a vulnerability Hampton are surely hoping to exploit. As for Marshall, they will face off against Clinton. Clinton are cruising in on a eight-game winning streak.
