The Higley Knights will venture away from home to face off against the Campo Verde Coyotes at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. Higley's pitching crew has only allowed 3.6 runs per game this season, so Campo Verde's hitters will have their work cut out for them.
Higley took a loss when they played away from home on Tuesday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Thursday. They walked away with a 5-1 victory over Desert Ridge. The win was some much needed relief for the Knights as it spelled an end to their three-game losing streak.

Jet Gonzalez spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned run on three hits. Higley is 5-1 when Gonzalez allows three or fewer earned runs, but 6-7 otherwise.
On the hitting side, Higley let Gio Liburdi and Jordan Heraldez run wild. Liburdi scored two runs while going 2-for-4, while Heraldez scored a run while going 2-for-3. That's the most runs Liburdi has posted since back in April of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Cam Jantz, who scored a run while going 2-for-3.
Meanwhile, Campo Verde came tearing into Friday's contest with three straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 4.3 runs), and they left with even more momentum. They never let the Saints get on the board and left with a 1-0 victory. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Coyotes have posted since April 4, 2024.
Not much got past Josh Heilman, who gave up just five hits to keep Notre Dame Prep off the board.
At the plate, Campo Verde's victory was truly a team effort as five different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Ezekiel Zion, who scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-2.
Campo Verde hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. The team has now struck out at least three batters in three consecutive matches.
Higley pushed their record up to 11-8 with the win, which was their third straight at home. The home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.3 runs over those games. As for Campo Verde, their record is now 11-6.
Higley might still be hurting after the 9-3 defeat they got from Campo Verde when the teams last played back in April of 2024. Can the Knights avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
