Emily Tschida made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and got on base in all four of her plate appearances with three runs, two RBI, and one double. Audrey Webb was another key player, going 1-for-4 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI.
Meanwhile, West Albany earned an 11-7 win over Corvallis on Wednesday. The victory continues a trend for the Bulldogs in their matchups with the Spartans: they've now won three in a row.
Kodi Carapinha 2026 made a splash while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, keeping things locked down with no earned runs or hits over four innings pitched. What's more, she posted five strikeouts, the most she's had since back in March. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going 1-for-2 with one home run and five RBI. That home run marked the first that she has launched this season.
In other batting news, Ruby Salazar 2027 was excellent, getting on base in three of her four plate appearances with three runs. Those three runs gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Amelia Kidd 2026, who got on base in two of her four plate appearances with one run and one RBI.
South Albany's loss dropped their record down to 5-11. As for West Albany, their win bumped their record up to an identical 5-11.
South Albany's speedy runners might be the difference in Friday's matchup. The Redhawks have been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 3.1 stolen bases per game.
