5A Aurora recap October 1, 2013
Rangeview took down Aurora Central 56-6 last week, the largest margin of any game. Darien Odegard threw for 95 yards and ran for 27 yards during the win.
Denver East and Gateway played the closest game in 5A Aurora this week, with Denver East eventually emerging with a 24-21 victory. Michael Kouba threw for 81 yards in the win.
Odegard and Keitrich Griffin gave the Raiders a balanced attack through the air and ground last week. Oscar Lorandi also contributed to the rushing game with 34 yards on the ground.
The Trojans' Deron Harrell and Ja'ron Kellem have formed a dream team this season, leading the league in both passing and receiving yards. Harrell has thrown for 612 yards this season, while Kellem, a 6-foot-2 receiver, has 22 catches for 384 yards. Isaac Fuqua from the Olympians leads the league in rushing with 628 yards.
One of the league's premier quarterbacks will face off with its top pass rusher when Aurora Central and Gateway face off next week.
An important game coming up in 5A Aurora this week will be when Hinkley takes on Rangeview. The Thunderbirds are in first place, while David Gonzales' team is in third place.
