The South Ripley Raiders will head out to face off against the Milan Indians at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday. South Ripley is coming into the game hot, having won their last four games.
While South Ripley's victory against Jac-Cen-Del wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Raiders narrowly escaped with a win as the team sidled past the Eagles 8-7. The game snapped a strange streak: the last five times these teams have met, it?s been the away team that?s taken home the W.
Ellie Combs spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered six earned (and one unearned) runs on four hits and racked up eight Ks.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Taylor Jordan, who went 1-for-2 with two stolen bases and two runs. She is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as she's now snagged at least one in each of the last three games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Zoe Clowers, who went 2-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double.
Meanwhile, after only one run in their last match, Milan made sure to put some runs up on the board against Switzerland County on Monday. The Indians never let the Pacers get on the board and left with a 10-0 victory. The result was nothing new for the Indians, who have now won ten contests by seven runs or more so far this season.
Kynadee Bode was a major factor no matter where she played. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out six over five innings pitched. Bode was also stellar in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with three RBI, two runs, and one stolen base.
In other batting news, Emma Voss was incredible, going a perfect 3-for-3 with two stolen bases, three runs, and one double. That's the most hits she has posted since back in March. Caroline McMillan was another key player, going 2-for-3 with two doubles, two RBI, and one run.
Milan has been performing well recently as they've won 13 of their last 17 games. That's provided a nice bump to their 15-8 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.7 runs on average over those games. As for South Ripley, their record now sits at 7-10.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Wednesday as neither team is afraid to steal. South Ripley has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 2.9 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Milan struggles in that department as they've been averaging 2.7 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
South Ripley might still be hurting after the 17-1 defeat they got from Milan when the teams last played last Monday. Can the Raiders avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
