While the King Lions couldn't quite beat the Alonso Ravens on Friday, the two-point margin was a huge improvement compared to the 23-point defeat they were dealt last Wednesday. King fell just short of the Ravens by a score of 50-48. King was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Ravens apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in January of 2023.
King lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Andreas Jackson, who scored nine points along with eight rebounds and two blocks. Jackson has been hot recently, having posted two or more blocks the last four times he's played. Another player making a difference was Julien Barnett, who scored seven points along with two steals.
This is the second loss in a row for King and nudges their season record down to 11-11. As for Alonso, the win (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 11-11.
King won't have much time to rest: their next match is against the Bloodhounds at 2:15 p.m. on January 27th. Auburndale is no doubt hoping to put an end to a three-game streak of away losses. As for Alonso, they will head out on the road to square off against the Spartans at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. Hopefully Spoto focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 20 on Friday.
