Football Recap: Lincoln Piles Up the Points Against La Jolla + How To Watch

Lincoln won the last time they faced La Jolla and things went their way on Friday too. The Hornets blew past the Vikings 54-3. The game was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 24-3.

Lincoln had a senior duo take command as Junior Curtis rushed for 68 yards and three scores on only nine carries and Kainan Manna threw for 168 yards and one touchdown on only eight passes. Courtney Miller-Thompson also helped out with an impressive 86 receiving yards.

Lincoln's run defense was locked in: La Jolla could only muster 1.4 yards per carry. While five picked up at least five total tackles, Jaydin Lewis stood above the rest. He picked up two sacks and made five total tackles (3.0 for loss). Lincoln didn't have any issues in that department, having averaged 8.5.

Lincoln's defense didn't let Ty Tortorice, get away unscathed either: they got into the backfield for three sacks. Lewis was particularly dangerous to the passing game, picking up two himself. He has been hot, having also posted five or more total tackles the last six times he's played. Lincoln received some extra help from Jamari Sherell, whose fumble return for a touchdown made for one of the most unforgettable moments.

The victory was the third in a row for Lincoln, bringing their record up to 6-1. Those wins came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 12.7 points on average over those games. As for La Jolla, their loss ended a four-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 4-3.

Lincoln wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next contest, a 56-0 victory against University City on the 17th. As for La Jolla, they also didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next matchup, a 36-33 win against San Diego on the 17th.
