Chittenango has gone 8-2 against Westhill recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Tuesday. The Bears will host the Warriors at 4:30 p.m. Chittenango will be looking to extend their current seven-game winning streak.
Last Wednesday, Chittenango made easy work of Solvay and carried off a 10-1 win. The Bears might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won five contests by seven runs or more this season.
Lauren Machan was a major factor no matter where she played. She struck out 12 batters over five innings while giving up just one earned run off one hit (and only one walk). She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in four consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going 3-for-4 with one home run and four RBI.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Danica Oppenheimer, who went 2-for-3 with one home run and three RBI. Alivia Cavotta was another key player, going 3-for-4 with two runs and one double.
Chittenango lost a few balls and finished the game with two home runs. That's the most home runs they've posted since back in April of 2024.
For whatever reason, it's the away team that's had the advantage when Westhill and Marcellus meet (three straight games heading into this one) and that held true again on Monday. The Warriors lost 14-4 to the Mustangs.
Grace Horning made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 1-for-2 with two RBI, one run, and one double. That double marked the first that she has hit this season. Another player making a difference was Cadence Ramsing, who went 2-for-3 with two RBI and one double.
Chittenango's victory was their fourth straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 7-1. Those road wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 15.5 runs over those games. As for Westhill, their defeat was their first in the league, dropping their league record down to 3-1 and their overall record down to 4-4.
Chittenango's speedy runners might be the difference in Tuesday's match. The Bears have been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 4.4 stolen bases per game. It's a different story for Westhill, though, as they've been averaging only 1.1 stolen bases. Will they be able to secure the bases, or will Chittenango continue to outrun the ball?
Everything went Chittenango's way against Westhill in their previous matchup back in May of 2024, as Chittenango made off with a 14-7 victory. Do the Bears have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Warriors turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
