The Miami Trace Panthers will challenge the North Adams Green Devils at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Both come into the match bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Miami Trace had to skate by with only a one-run margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the seven-run drubbing they dealt Waverly on Tuesday. The Panthers were the clear victors by an 8-1 margin over the Tigers. That looming 8-1 mark stands out as the most commanding margin for the Panthers yet this season.
Kaylee Everhart spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned run on four hits and racked up 13 Ks.
On the hitting side, Gracie Cordell and Zoey Grooms did most of the damage at the plate: Cordell went 3-for-4 with one home run and five RBI, while Grooms went 2-for-4 with one home run, two runs, and one triple. That home run marked the first that Cordell has launched this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Mya Babineau, who went 2-for-3 with three runs, one stolen base, and one double.
Miami Trace was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .387. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Waverly only posted a batting average of .160.
North Adams hadn't beaten Manchester on the road since April 13, 2017 but that history sure didn't bother them on Tuesday. The Green Devils never let the Greyhounds get on the board and left with a 5-0 victory.
Carlee Garrison made a big impact no matter where she played. She kept things locked down with no earned runs or hits over seven innings pitched. Garrison was also stellar in the batter's box, going a perfect 3-for-3 with two runs, one double, and one RBI. That's the most hits she has posted since back in March.
In other batting news, North Adams let Jerzi Tong and Paige Evans run wild. Tong got on base in two of her four plate appearances with two runs and one stolen base, while Evans went 2-for-4 with two RBI, one run, and one double. Riley Woods was another key player, going 1-for-3 with two RBI.
North Adams is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 5-7 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 6.4 runs over those games. As for Miami Trace, their victory bumped their record up to 4-9.
