Dundee-Crown had lost six games straight , but after bumping their record up to 9-20 on Thursday that streak is in the rearview. They narrowly escaped with a victory as the squad sidled past the Cary-Grove Trojans 9-7. This was a revenge game for the Chargers: when they faced off against the Trojans back in April, they had to take a 9-2 defeat.
Dundee-Crown got a great performance from Reese Westland as she pitched six innings while giving up just two earned (and six unearned) runs off 11 hits. Westland has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than one walk in nine consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Madysen Schillaci was a standout: she went 2-for-4 with three RBI, one run, and one double. Those three RBI gave her a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Abigail Hsu, who went 2-for-4 with two RBI, one run, and one double.
Dundee-Crown kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 14 hits. They are 6-3 when they post 11 or more hits.
As for Cary-Grove, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost 11 of their last 12 matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 7-20 record this season. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest loss they have suffered since April 28th.
On Cary-Grove's side, Green Addison spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered four earned (and five unearned) runs on 11 hits and racked up six Ks.
At the plate, Aubrey Longergan made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 3-for-5 with two triples and three runs. Paityn Ahlquist was another key player, going 2-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI.
Looking ahead, Dundee-Crown will challenge Elgin at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Cary-Grove, they will get a bit of extra time to process the defeat as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Vernon Hills at 4:00 p.m. on the 27th.
