The Wesclin Warriors will head out on the road to square off against the Carlyle Indians/Lady Indians at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. Both teams come into the match bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Last Monday, Wesclin earned a 44-31 win over the Yellowjackets.
Meanwhile, Carlyle came tearing into Monday's match with six straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 23 points) and they left with even more momentum. They walked away with a 56-49 victory over Okawville.
Carlyle's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Sophia Hoffmann led the charge by scoring 22 points along with seven rebounds and two steals. Another player making a difference was Lera Schmeink, who scored 15 points.
Wesclin's win was their seventh straight at home, which pushed their record up to 13-14. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 51.7 points per game. As for Carlyle, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 13 of their last 14 games, which provided a nice bump to their 23-2 record this season.
Wesclin was taken down by the Indians/Lady Indians 58-25 in their previous meeting back in December of 2023. Can Wesclin avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
