Basketball Recap: Make It Three in a Row for Croatan

Croatan entered their tilt with Richlands on Tuesday with two consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with three. They blew past the Richlands Wildcats 82-58. The Cougars have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won eight games by 24 points or more this season.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Croatan to victory, but perhaps none more so than Kannon McBride, who went 10 for 21 en route to 26 points in addition to six boards and four steals. McBride's evening made it three games in a row in which he has scored at least 16 points. Trey Jones was another key player, dropping a double-double with 24 points and ten rebounds.

Croatan smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 11 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least nine offensive boards in five consecutive contests.

Croatan's record now sits at 15-5. As for Richlands, they have been struggling recently as they've lost 11 of their last 12 matchups, which has put a noticeable dent in their 4-16 record this season.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Croatan will head out to face off against West Carteret at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. Croatan knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 55 points or more in their past 15 games -- so hopefully West Carteret likes a good challenge. As for Richlands, they will venture away from home to take on Dixon at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday.
