If the Winston County Yellowjackets were riding high off their 61-36 takedown of the Lynn Bears on Friday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. Winston County's tough 58-36 loss to Lamar County on Tuesday might stick with them for a while. Winston County was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as Lamar County apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in December of 2023.
Winston County's loss shouldn't obscure the performances of Lynleigh Cobb, who scored 16 points along with eight rebounds and three steals, and Emma Grace who scored six points along with three blocks. Grace continues to roll, besting her previous point total in each of the last three games she's played.
Winston County has not been sharp recently, as they've lost five of their last six contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 6-13 record this season. As for Lamar County, the victory makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 5-6.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Winston County will take on Meek at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Meek will be looking to keep their four-game home win streak alive. As for Lamar County, they will head out on the road to face off against Berry at 5:00 p.m. on Monday.
