The Kennedy Trojans will square off against the Country Christian Cougars at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. The two teams are strolling into their games after big wins in their previous games.
Kennedy came out on top against Colton on Friday thanks in part to the team's impressive 15-run third inning. The Trojans blew past the Vikings 16-1. The result was nothing new for the Trojans, who have now won five matchups by ten runs or more so far this season.
Grace Traeger made a big impact no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, pitching three innings while giving up just one earned run off three hits. Traeger was also stellar in the batter's box, getting on base in all four of her plate appearances with three runs, one stolen base, and two RBI.
In other batting news, Brianna Traeger was incredible, going a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run, five RBI, and two runs. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in April of 2024. Another player making a difference was Audrey Brenden, who got on base in three of her four plate appearances with two runs, one double, and one RBI.
Kennedy always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .724. They are 6-2 when they post an OBP of .513 or better.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Country Christian). They put the hurt on Western Christian with a sharp 21-9 victory on Wednesday. The Cougars have beaten the Pioneers the last three times they've met, but they better watch out: this was the closest the Pioneers has come to flipping the script.
Country Christian got a massive performance out of Grace Colvin, who went 3-for-5 with four stolen bases, four runs, and one double. Colvin is crushing it when it comes to stolen bases: she's snagged at least one every time she's taken the field this season. Bailey Colvin was another key player, getting on base in all four of her plate appearances with two stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI.
Kennedy now has a winning record of 6-5. As for Country Christian, they now have a winning record of 3-2-1.
Country Christian's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Kennedy has been making plenty of contact this season, having averaged 10.1 hits per game. It's a different story for Country Christian, though, as they've been averaging 9 hits. Given Kennedy's sizable advantage in that area, the Cougars will need to find a way to close that gap.
Kennedy took their win against Country Christian in their previous meeting two weeks ago by a conclusive 11-1 score. Do the Trojans have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Cougars turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
