There's no place like home for the P.K. Yonge Blue Wave, who bounced back after a tough loss on the road last Monday. They strolled past West Port with points to spare on Wednesday, taking the game 61-43. Given P.K. Yonge's advantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 54th, while West Port is ranked 289th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
P.K. Yonge's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Reniyah Clark, who shot 4-for-5 from downtown and dropped a double-double on 21 points and 11 rebounds. Clark is absolutely dominating the rebound category: she's posted at least eight every time she's taken the court this season. Ashlyn Young was another key contributor, scoring 15 points along with 7 rebounds and 3 steals.
P.K. Yonge's victory bumped their record up to 4-1. As for West Port, they have fallen quite a ways from their 19-7 record last season and are now at 2-4.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. P.K. Yonge will take on Rickards at 3:00 p.m. on Friday. As for West Port, they will head out on the road to face off against North Marion at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday.
