The Southside Mavericks's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their fifth straight loss. They suffered a rough 55-33 loss at the hands of Northside. While losing is never fun, Southside can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Arkansas basketball rankings (they are ranked 91st, while Northside is ranked second).
It was another big night for Erianna Gooden, who scored 19 points along with seven rebounds and six assists for Northside. Gooden hasn't dropped below two steals for eight straight games. Cherish Blackmon was another key contributor, scoring nine points along with five rebounds.
Southside's loss dropped their record down to 1-5. As for Northside, the victory was the seventh in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 19-3.
Southside does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Northside will head out on the road to take on Har-Ber at 6:00 p.m. on Friday.
