The Seminole Seminoles will square off against the Boone Braves at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Seminole hasn't scored more than two runs for three games straight, a trend the squad is eager to reverse.
While Seminole's victory against Lake Mary wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Seminoles won by a run and slipped past the Rams 2-1. The win continues a trend for the Seminoles in their matchups with the Rams: they've now won three in a row.
Ava Matthews spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned run on three hits.
At the plate, Maggie Long was excellent, going 2-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one double.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Boone). They never let University get on the board and left with a 23-0 victory on Thursday. The result was nothing new for the Braves, who have now won 11 games by seven runs or more so far this season.
Samantha Johnson looked comfortable as she struck out six batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits (and not a single walk). She has been consistent: she hasn't given up more than two walks in six consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, Boone got a massive performance out of Aracelys Gonzalez, who went 2-for-3 with six stolen bases, four runs, and two RBI. Those six stolen bases gave Gonzalez a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Emelia Martin, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with three runs, three RBI, and one triple.
Boone always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .800. They are a perfect 7-0 when they post an OBP of .513 or better.
Boone has been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 12-8 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.5 runs on average over those games. As for Seminole, their victory bumped their record up to 7-13.
Seminole was able to grind out a solid win over Boone in their previous meeting back in April of 2024, winning 5-0. Do the Seminoles have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Braves turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
