The West Liberty-Salem Tigers had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 32 points), and they went ahead and made it three on Saturday. They snuck past Greenon with a 54-49 victory. That's another feather in the cap for West Liberty-Salem, who also won these teams' last head-to-head.
West Liberty-Salem got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Megan Hollar out in front who scored 16 points along with seven rebounds. Those seven rebounds set a new season-high mark for her. The team also got some help courtesy of Lilly Weaver, who scored 12 points.
West Liberty-Salem's victory bumped their record up to 6-1. As for Greenon, they have fallen quite a ways from their 17-5 record last season and are now at 3-5.
West Liberty-Salem will be home for the holidays to greet Madison Plains at 7:30 p.m. on Monday. Madison Plains will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Ohio Rankings (they are ranked 563rd, while West Liberty-Salem is ranked 205th). As for Greenon, they will head out on the road to face off against Northwestern at 7:30 p.m. on Monday. Northwestern is out to stop a four-game streak of losses at home.
