The Riverside Beavers are taking a road trip to square off against the Benedictine Bengals at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. Riverside will be looking to extend their current six-game winning streak.
Riverside's pitching crew heads into the contest hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Friday. Everything went their way against Cleveland Heights as they made off with a 14-0 win. The result was nothing new for the Beavers, who have now won eight matches by six runs or more so far this season.
Mason Pozo looked comfortable as he pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two walks in seven consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Riverside got a massive performance out of Austin Wittreich, who went 2-for-3 with three runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. Wittreich is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as he's now snagged at least one in each of the last three games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Mo Dolce, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with three runs, one double, and one RBI.
Riverside hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. The team has now struck out at least three batters in four consecutive games.
Meanwhile, Benedictine didn't have quite enough to beat Hawken on Wednesday and fell 2-1.
Ben Scheer was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits over six innings pitched.
On the hitting side, Benedictine saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Danny Joyce, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base and one RBI. That stolen base marked the first that Joyce has snagged this season.
Riverside's victory was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 15-8. The home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.0 run on average over those games. As for Benedictine, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost three of their last four contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 10-10 record this season.
Benedictine's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Riverside hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .332. It's a different story for Benedictine, though, as they've only averaged .252. Will they be able to contain Riverside's hitters?
Riverside was able to grind out a solid victory over Benedictine in their previous meeting back in March, winning 4-1. Do the Beavers have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Bengals turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
