Westerville South's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Cirrye White led the charge by going 7-for-9 on her way to 16 points and four steals. White has been hot, having posted two or more steals the last five times she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Ariyana Cradle, who posted 17 points along with five rebounds and three steals.
Meanwhile, it can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but Logan had no problem doing just that on Wednesday. They escaped with a win against the Comets by the margin of a single free throw, 52-51. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Chieftains.
Westerville South better keep an eye on Makenzie Daubenmire. She was instrumental in Logan's win, putting up 24 points in addition to eight boards and eight blocks. The dominant performance also gave Daubenmire a new career-high in steals (five). Ella Hinton was another key player, scoring 12 points along with eight assists and six rebounds.
Logan was working as a unit and finished the game with 17 assists. They racked up seven more assists than Central Crossing's also-impressive total of ten.
Westerville South's win was their sixth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 17-5. A key ingredient in that success has been their performance when it comes to three-point shooting accuracy: their three-point shooting accuracy was 34.6% in those games and 26.1% outside of them. As for Logan, their victory bumped their record up to 6-17.
This contest is shaping up to be a blowout: Westerville South hasn't had any problem running up the score this season, having averaged 55.6 points per game. It's a different story for Logan, though, as they've been averaging only 36.6 points. The only thing between Westerville South and another offensive beatdown is Logan. Will they be able to keep them contained?
Westerville South strolled past Logan in their previous matchup back in December of 2016 by a score of 55-40. Will Westerville South repeat their success, or does Logan have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
