The Madison Patriots's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Tuesday after their third straight defeat. Their rough 46-24 defeat to Avery County might stick with them for a while. Madison was down 37-16 at the end of the third quarter, and things only got worse from there.
Avery County's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Khloe Burleson, who scored nine points along with three steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Reagan Greer, who scored ten points along with three steals.
Madison has traveled a rocky road recently having lost six of their last eight matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 9-13 record this season. As for Avery County, they have been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five matches, which provided a massive bump to their 12-9 record this season.
Madison will be playing in front of their home fans against Mountain Heritage at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Mountain Heritage will roll in looking for their 15th straight win, something Madison surely won't give up without a fight. Avery County is on the road again on Friday and plays Owen at 6:00 p.m. on February 9th. Hopefully Avery County is not getting complacent, as they presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Owen in North Carolina (Avery County is ranked 231st, while Owen is ranked 520th).
