Basketball Recap: Peoria Has No Trouble Against Moon Valley

Peoria won the last time they faced Moon Valley and things went their way on Tuesday too. The Peoria Panthers blew past the Moon Valley Rockets 71-51. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Panthers.

Despite the loss, Moon Valley saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Derek Johnson went 8 of 12 on his way to 21 points and five rebounds. Those 21 points set a new season-high mark for Johnson. The team also got some help courtesy of Legend Marcelin, who posted eight points and seven rebounds.

Peoria's win bumped their record up to 2-5. As for Moon Valley, their defeat was their fifth straight at home dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 0-9.

Peoria wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next match, a 79-47 loss against Horizon on the 20th. As for Moon Valley, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 54-50 victory against Desert Sunrise on the 18th.
