The Rancho Rams will head out on the road to challenge the Palo Verde Panthers at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. Rancho has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 932 points over their last 12 games.
Rancho stacked a tenth blowout win onto their ever-increasing hoard on Monday. They really took it to Southeast Career Tech for the full four quarters, racking up a 74-27 win at home. The match was all but wrapped up at the end of the third, by which point Rancho had established a 44 point advantage.
R'Zha Whittle continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, dropping a double-double on 30 points and ten rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points he has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Caleb Roston, who almost dropped a double-double on ten points and nine steals.
Meanwhile, you can't lose the game if you win every quarter, and that was precisely Palo Verde's strategy against the Cougars on Monday. Given that consistent dominance, it should come as no surprise that Palo Verde blew the Cougars out of the water with a 75-33 final score. With Palo Verde ahead 45-20 at the half, the matchup was all but over already.
Rancho's win was their seventh straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 19-4. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 74.4 points per game. As for Palo Verde, the victory makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 12-9.
Rancho was able to grind out a solid win over the Panthers when the teams last played back in January, winning 78-66. The rematch might be a little tougher for Rancho since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
