The Farmington Phoenix lost against the Herriman Mustangs back in December of 2018, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Saturday. Farmington took a 58-49 hit to the loss column at the hands of Herriman. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points Farmington has scored all season.
Farmington's defeat shouldn't obscure the performances of Ethan Harris, who scored 11 points, and Paul Beattie who scored nine points along with five assists. Those 11 points set a new season-high mark for him. The team also got some help courtesy of Braden Larsen, who scored two points along with six rebounds and three steals.
Even though they lost, Farmington were working as a unit and finished the game with 14 assists. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Herriman only racked up seven assists.
Herriman's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Malcolm Johnson led the charge by scoring eight points along with 11 rebounds. Johnson also grabbed two steals for the first time this season. Another player making a difference was Stockton Blanchard, who scored 13 points.
Farmington's defeat dropped their record down to 4-2. As for Herriman, they are on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four games, which provided a nice bump to their 5-2 record this season.
Farmington will be playing in front of their home fans against Bingham at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Hopefully Bingham focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 14 on Friday. As for Herriman, they will head out on the road to face off against Hillcrest at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Hillcrest will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Utah Rankings (they are ranked 60th, while Herriman is ranked 13th).
