Last Friday, James F. Byrnes faced Catawba Ridge in a battle between two of the state's top teams. Everything went James F. Byrnes' way against Catawba Ridge as James F. Byrnes made off with a 79-54 victory. The win was familiar territory for James F. Byrnes who now have five in a row.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead James F. Byrnes to victory, but perhaps none more so than Kayzzin McDowell, who went 6 for 11 from beyond the arc en route to 23 points and 0 assists. McDowell has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last three times he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Colt Fowler, who scored 16 points along with five assists and five rebounds.
Meanwhile, Ben Lippen entered their tilt with Northside Christian Academy with five consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with six. Ben Lippen put the hurt on Northside Christian Academy with a sharp 74-54 win last Friday. The matchup was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 46-24.
James F. Byrnes is on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 9-3 record this season. As for Ben Lippen, their victory was their sixth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 8-3.
