Kellis had lost 14 straight on the road dating back to last season, but on Friday they dropped down to 4-13 to make it 15. They fell just short of the La Joya Community Lobos by a score of 14-13. Even if the Cougars couldn't come away with the victory, the high-scoring effort was a great turnaround for their hitters, which had struggled int the games prior.

Dylan Giddens and Nathaniel Madrid did some serious damage despite the final result: Giddens went a perfect 3-for-3 with two stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI, while Madrid got on base in all five of his plate appearances with two runs, two RBI, and one double. Kellis is 2-1 when Giddens posts two or more runs, but 2-12 otherwise. The team also got some help courtesy of Gavin Cly, who got on base in three of his five plate appearances with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.
As for La Joya Community, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 12 of their last 14 matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 16-4 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 12.2 runs over those games.
On La Joya Community's side, Cayson Hamrick made a splash while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, tossing one inning while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Hamrick has been consistent: he hasn't given up more than two walks in six consecutive appearances. He was also stellar in the batter's box, getting on base in four of his five plate appearances with three RBI, one stolen base, and one run.
