Alcoa came tearing into Saturday's match with 16 straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 6.7 runs), and they left with even more momentum. They never let the Sweetwater Wildcats get on the board and left with a 10-0 victory. The result was nothing new for the Tornadoes, who have now won 20 contests by six runs or more so far this season.
Kaylea Osborne tossed a big game, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only two hits while striking out nine over five innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in 12 consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, Grayson Burgess was excellent, going a perfect 1-for-1 with one home run and two RBI. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in April. Makenna McCarter was another key player, getting on base in all three of her plate appearances with three runs.
Alcoa kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits in seven consecutive games.
Alcoa pushed their record up to 38-6 with the win, which was their tenth straight at home. Those home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.1 runs on average over those games. As for Sweetwater, they have been struggling recently as they've lost four of their last five matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 21-7 record this season.
As of now, neither Alcoa nor Sweetwater have any future games scheduled.
