The Yoakum Bulldogs lost against the Edna Cowboys back in February of 2023, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. Yoakum took a 47-38 hit to the loss column at the hands of Edna. While losing is never fun, Yoakum can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 784th, while Edna is ranked 349th).
Despite the loss, Yoakum still got an impressive performance from Jayana Phillips, who dropped a double-double on 19 points and 11 rebounds. Phillips is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last three games she's played.
Yoakum now has a losing record at 11-12. As for Edna, they pushed their record up to 21-5 with that victory, which was their sixth straight at home.
Yoakum will head out on the road to face off against Rice Consolidated at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Rice Consolidated is coming into the game on a four-game losing streak. As for Edna, they will look to defend their home court on Wednesday against Columbus at 5:00 p.m.
