Basketball Recap: Davis Picks Up Third Straight Win on the Road

Davis's game last Friday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Tuesday. They secured a 49-43 W over the Layton Lancers. That's more bragging rights for the Darts, who also won the pair's last head-to-head.

Davis found their leader in sophomore Kate Willard, who dropped a double-double on 24 points and ten rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Willard has scored all season. Another player making a difference was T'Maea Eteuati, who dropped a double-double on 11 points and 11 boards.

Davis smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 22 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least 11 offensive boards in 11 consecutive matches.

Several Lancers players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Taya Pace, who posted 12 points in addition to seven rebounds and three blocks. The dominant performance gave Pace a new career-high in boards. The team also got some help courtesy of BrynDee Kozisek, who had 11 points and five assists.

Davis pushed their record up to 9-4 with the win, which was their third straight on the road. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 53.0 points per game. As for Layton, they are on a five-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-12.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Davis will venture away from home to face off against Syracuse at 5:15 p.m. on Friday. Syracuse will roll in looking for their fifth straight victory, something Davis surely won't give up without a fight. As for Layton, they are taking a road trip to square off against Farmington at 5:15 p.m. on Friday. Layton is facing Farmington at the right time seeing as Farmington is stuck on a three-game losing streak.
