Rio Hondo recap October 29, 2013
San Marino extended the longest winning streak in Rio Hondo this week by beating Blair, 72-0. The win marks sixth in a row for the the Titans.
Temple City moved up to 627 from 701 in the state rankings this week, the biggest jump in the league. The Rams were able to move up by topping South Pasadena 48-13.
Deshawn Potts was a passing and rushing force as Monrovia defeated La Canada. He completed 2 passes for 53 yards and 1 touchdown and also ran for 77 yards. Potts' key target this week was Seth Raines, who caught 2 passes for 53 yards.
Nic Starling was the most successful running back in the league this week. In 7 carries, he ran for 110 yards as Temple City topped the Spartans. Nate Salcido also contributed to the rushing game with 113 yards on the ground.
San Marino's Andrew Ferraco and JP Shohfi have formed a dream team this season, leading Rio Hondo in both passing and receiving yards. 6-1 quarterback Ferraco has thrown for 733 yards this season, while Shohfi has 15 catches for 375 yards. Kurt Scoby from Monrovia leads the league in rushing with 1,317 yards.
Mike hobbie's team's Ferraco is a mere 27 yards away from breaking the 1,000-rushing-yards mark for the season. In 117 carries Ferraco has accumulated 973 yard this year.
One of the league's premier quarterbacks will go head-to-head with its top pass rusher when the Titans and the Rams face off next week.
A big matchup in the league this week will be when San Marino takes on Temple City. The Titans are currently in first, while the Rams are in third.
Ryan Maddox's team took down La Canada 77-0 last week, the largest margin of any game. Potts ran for 77 yards in the win.
