After a string of six wins, the Hartsville Red Foxes's good fortune finally ran out on Friday. They fell 46-35 to North Myrtle Beach. Hartsville was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as North Myrtle Beach apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in January of 2023.
Hartsville lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Jazzy Frierson, who scored 16 points along with six rebounds and four steals. Frierson has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last seven times she's played. Brooke Mitchell was another key contributor, scoring eight points along with six rebounds and five steals.
North Myrtle Beach's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Faith Farmer, who scored 26 points along with three steals. Farmer is on a roll when it comes to points, as she's now scored 15 or more in the last three games she's played. Another player making a difference was Nevaeh Washington, who scored eight points along with 18 rebounds and two steals.
Hartsville's loss ended a seven-game streak of away wins and brought them to 12-6. As for North Myrtle Beach, they have been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four matches, which provided a nice bump to their 10-5 record this season.
Hartsville on the road again on Monday and play against Lee Central at 5:00 p.m. on January 15th. Averaging 55.5 so far this season, Lee Central's high-powered offense has been in full-swing lately, so Hartsville better be ready for a challenge. As for North Myrtle Beach, they will head out on the road to square off against South Florence at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
