Baseball Game Preview: Bishop Kelly Knights vs. Skyview Hawks

Bishop Kelly hasn't had much luck against Skyview recently, but that could start to change on Thursday. The Knights will welcome the Hawks at 7:00 p.m. Bishop Kelly will be strutting in after a victory while Skyview will be coming in after a defeat.

Bishop Kelly took a loss when they played away from home on Thursday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Tuesday. They were the clear victors by a 13-3 margin over Caldwell. Considering the Knights have won ten matchups by more than five runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.

Ayden Boyd was incredible, going a perfect 3-for-3 with two runs, one triple, and one stolen base. He has become a key player for Bishop Kelly: the team is undefeated when he posts at least two runs, but 6-9 otherwise. The team also got some help courtesy of Lucas Blaine, who scored a run and stole a base while going 3-for-4.

Meanwhile, after a string of four wins, Skyview's good fortune finally ran out on Tuesday. They fell just short of Vallivue by a score of 9-7. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest loss the Hawks have suffered since May 16, 2024.

Henry Downey and Ledger Downs did some serious damage despite the final result: Downey scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-3, while Downs scored a run while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances. Another player making a difference was John Tyson, who went 1-for-3 with two RBI and one double.

Bishop Kelly has been performing well recently as they've won nine of their last 11 contests. That's provided a massive bump to their 10-9 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.2 runs over those games. As for Skyview, their defeat dropped their record down to 11-4-1.
