Triopia/Meredosia-Chambersburg/Virginia has gone a perfect 5-0 against Astoria/VIT recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Wednesday. The Trojans will venture away from home to take on the Rebels at 4:30 p.m. Triopia/Meredosia-Chambersburg/Virginia is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 10.1 runs per game this season.
Triopia/Meredosia-Chambersburg/Virginia's hitters will try to repeat the strong performance they gave on Tuesday, when they got past Liberty's usually-dominant pitching crew. The Trojans were the clear victors by a 12-1 margin over the Eagles. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Trojans.
Mylee Tracy was a major factor no matter where she played. On the mound, she struck out eight batters over five innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits (and only one walk). Tracy was also stellar in the batter's box, scoring three runs while going 3-for-4.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Mia McCombs, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with three runs, one triple, and one double. That triple marked the first that she hit this season. Another player making a difference was Addison Rohn, who went 2-for-4 with three RBI and one double.
Triopia/Meredosia-Chambersburg/Virginia always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .516. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Liberty only posted an OBP of .158.
Meanwhile, Astoria/VIT was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They were a single run away from ending the streak, but they lost a 15-14 heartbreaker at the hands of West Prairie. That's two games in a row now that the Rebels have lost by just one run.
Like Triopia/Meredosia-Chambersburg/Virginia, Astoria/VIT also got a great game from a two-way player: H Horwedel. She struck out seven batters over six innings while giving up just two earned (and seven unearned) runs off 12 hits (and not a single walk). Horwedel has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than one walk in three consecutive appearances. She was even better at the plate, scoring two runs and stealing three bases while going 4-for-4.
In other batting news, D Wickert was cooking despite her team's loss, scoring three runs and stealing three bases while going 2-for-4.
Astoria/VIT's loss dropped their record down to 2-5. As for Triopia/Meredosia-Chambersburg/Virginia, their record is now 7-2.
Wednesday's game will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Triopia/Meredosia-Chambersburg/Virginia hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .392. However, it's not like Astoria/VIT struggles in that department as they've averaged .313. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Everything went Triopia/Meredosia-Chambersburg/Virginia's way against Astoria/VIT in their previous meeting back in May of 2024, as Triopia/Meredosia-Chambersburg/Virginia made off with a 12-0 win.
