After four lead changes,
Jackson Prep (Jackson, Miss.) took the lead for good when
Hamel McGraw ran for a touchdown with less than a minute remaining in the fifth quarter and held on to upset
Jackson Academy (Jackson, Miss.) 27-24 on Saturday.
Duncan Maxwell played well for the Raiders. The junior running back ran for one touchdown and caught one touchdown. His performance brought his touchdown total to 10 on the year.
McGraw played well for the Patriots in the victory. The senior running back ran for two touchdowns. He has now scored 10 touchdowns on the season.
The victory will ease some of the sting of Jackson Prep's close 17-14 loss to Jackson Academy last season.
The defeat comes as a step back for Jackson Academy, which notched a 56-14 victory over Lee Academy in its previous outing.
Jackson Prep (8-0) will play a MAIS AAA I District 2 game against East Rankin Academy next week, while Jackson Academy (7-1) will take on Washington in a MAIS AAA I District 1 game.
