The Delavan Panthers lost against the Pekin Dragons back in December of 2022, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Wednesday. Delavan lost to Pekin on the road by a decisive 60-46 margin. While losing is never fun, Delavan can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Illinois basketball rankings (they are ranked 217th, while Pekin is ranked 70th).
Despite the loss, Delavan had strong showings from Cooper Hansen, who scored 14 points, and Bryson Horning , who scored 7 points along with 10 rebounds.
This is the second loss in a row for Delavan and nudges their season record down to 5-3. As for Pekin, the victory was the third in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 5-1.
Delavan will look to defend their home court on Saturday against El Paso-Gridley at 5:00 p.m. As for Pekin, they will head out on the road to face off against Washington at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Washington is coming into the match on a four-game losing streak.
