As the Nebraska high school softball season heads into its third of eight weekends, Pierce junior Madelyn Hanson appears to be in midseason form.
With a .791 slugging percentage for the season, Hanson baffled opposing pitchers from the plate in the latter stages of August. Through the first 11 games of the season, Hanson led her team to four wins by going 11-of-24 from the plate, scoring 13 runs and knocking in eight runs with five doubles and a home run.
This week's Top 10 individual softball performances for August made room for Hanson at the top due to her performance in a 20-6 win over Highway 91 Aug. 23. During Pierce's 14 run win, Hanson went 4-for-4 from the plate, scored four times and knocked in an additional five runs. Marika VonSeggern's star player was credited with a double and a home run in the contest.
Fall City's Hannah Collier sits in the No. 2 spot after going 2-for-3 from the plate in a 19-2 win over Wilber-Clatonia Aug. 23. The senior scored four times and knocked in five RBI. She also walked once and swatted a pair of triples.
Sitting third is Scottsbluff senior Taryn Spady who scored three times and knocked in five runs in a 9-0 shutout of Holdrege-Adams Central Aug. 20. Spady went 3-for-3 from the plate and hit a pair of balls out of the park.
Kaili Head of Fillmore Central/Exeter-Milligan was a single short of hitting for the cycle and sits No. 8 after going 3-for-3 and clobbering a double, a triple and a home run. She also scored three times and knocked in four more scores.
