Southside has gone a perfect 8-0 against Boaz recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Tuesday. The Southside Panthers will be playing in front of their home fans against the Boaz Pirates at 4:30 p.m. Both come into the matchup bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
While Southside's victory against Etowah wasn't quite the blowout they won the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. Southside sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with an 8-6 win over Etowah on Thursday.
Jalyn Allen made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She pitched seven innings while giving up just one earned (and five unearned) runs off five hits. Allen was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with three RBI and one double. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in March of 2024.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Rylann Shaw, who went 2-for-3 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI. That's the most runs she has posted since back in April of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Lauren Mckee, who scored a run while going 3-for-4.
Meanwhile, it may have taken eight innings to finish the job, but Boaz ultimately got the result they hoped for on Thursday. They came out on top against Arab by a score of 7-4. The Pirates haven't had any issues with the Knights recently, as the game was their sixth consecutive victory against them.
Ava Rhoden was incredible, going 4-for-5 with three stolen bases, one triple, and one run. Addison Bowlin was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-3.
Boaz's win bumped their record up to 4-1. As for Southside, they now have a winning record of 2-1.
Southside was able to grind out a solid victory over Boaz when the teams last played back in April of 2024, winning 6-1. Does Southside have another victory up their sleeve, or will Boaz turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
