Section 8 Conference V recap Oct. 3, 2012
Long Island Lutheran extended the longest winning streak in Section 8 Conference V this week by beating Great Neck North, 42-14. The win marks fourth in a row for the the Crusaders.
Long Island Lutheran's offense was tough to stop this week, as it produced the league's top passer, rusher and receiver. Matt Borer threw for eight yards and John Martone had eight yards receiving. On the ground Tiquan Garner chipped in 245 yards.
Long Island Lutheran's offense has been unstoppable this season and the Crusaders feature the season leaders in passing, rushing and receiving yards. Borer has thrown for 231 yards and four touchdowns this season, while Garner has four catches for 76 yards. Garner leads the league in rushing with 592 yards.
A big matchup in the league this week will be when Chris Reno's team takes on Roslyn. The Crusaders are currently in first, while the Bulldogs are in seventh.
Long Island Lutheran made the biggest jump in the national rankings this week, rising to 9,942 from 10,156. The improvement came about via a 42-14 victory over the Blazers last week.
