If the McCurdy Bobcats were riding high off their 70-31 takedown of the Jemez Valley Warriors last Tuesday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. McCurdy took a 59-53 hit to the loss column at the hands of Moriarty. The result was an unpleasant reminder to McCurdy of the 61-50 defeat they experienced in the two teams' previous head-to-head fixture back in January of 2023.
Despite the loss, McCurdy still got an impressive performance from Lucas Martinez, who scored 21 points along with three steals. Martinez is absolutely dominating the steal category: he's posted at least two every time he's taken the court this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Jeremaya Roybal, who scored eight points along with eight rebounds.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Moriarty to victory, but perhaps none more so than Jordan Brown, who scored 15 points along with two steals. Jahkeem Graham was another key contributor, scoring 14 points.
McCurdy's loss dropped their record down to 6-6. As for Moriarty, their victory ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 4-6.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. McCurdy won't have much time to rest: their next matchup is against Laguna Acoma at 1:15 p.m. on January 12th. Laguna Acoma is out to stop a five-game streak of losses at home. Moriarty won't have much time to rest: their next game is against Santa Fe Indian at 8:00 p.m. on January 12th. Santa Fe Indian will be looking to extend their current six-game winning streak.
