The Hoxie Indians were the 57-54 winner over the Quinter Bulldogs when they last played one another back in January of 2023, but their luck changed this time around. Hoxie fell 49-37 to Quinter on Friday. While losing is never fun, Hoxie can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Kansas basketball rankings (they are ranked 241st, while Quinter is ranked 92nd).
Quinter got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Avery Briggs out in front who scored 15 points along with five rebounds. Luke Packard was another key contributor, scoring ten points along with seven rebounds and three blocks.
Hoxie's loss dropped their record down to 5-7. As for Quinter, they pushed their record up to 10-2 with that win, which was their fourth straight at home.
Hoxie won't have much time to rest: their next game is against Goodland on January 27th. Goodland will be looking to extend their current three-game winning streak. As for Quinter, they will head out on the road to square off against Dighton at 7:30 p.m. on Monday. Dighton will be coming into the game with an undefeated record on the line.
