The Memorial Day Matadors waltzed into their match on Tuesday with two straight wins but they left with three. They really took it to Twiggs Academy for the full four quarters, racking up a 71-33 victory at home. With Memorial Day ahead 35-13 at the half, the contest was all but over already.
Several Trojans players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Josh Nobles, who scored 11 points along with five rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Athen Taylor, who scored six points along with two steals.
Twiggs Academy struggled to work together and finished the game with only four assists. They are winless (0-4) when they just don't pass the ball.
Memorial Day is on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last eight contests, which provided a massive bump to their 9-6 record this season. As for Twiggs Academy, their defeat was their seventh straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 2-19.
Memorial Day will be playing in front of their home fans against Islands at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Twiggs Academy, they will head out on the road to face off against Crisp Academy at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. Twiggs Academy is facing Crisp Academy at the right time seeing as Crisp Academy is stuck on a five-game losing streak.
