AA Piedmont recap Oct. 23, 2012
Bassett and Martinsville played the most hotly contested game in AA Piedmont this week, with Bassett eventually emerging with a 23-22 victory.
Tunstall took down Patrick County 42-0 last week, the largest margin of any game. Chris Buckner threw for 131 yards and three touchdowns and ran for six yards in the win.
The Trojans' offense was tough to stop this week, as it produced the league's top passer, rusher and receiver. On the ground Jacob Barnette chipped in 127 yards. Evan Huffman helped Tunstall's passing attack out by catching one ball for 31 yards.
Damien Wilson was the best wideout in the league this week as Tunstall topped the Cougars. Wilson racked up one reception for 54 yards.
Tunstall's offense has been unstoppable this season and the Trojans feature the season leaders in passing, rushing and receiving yards. Buckner has thrown for 1041 yards and 13 touchdowns this season, while Peyton Farrior has 14 catches for 282 yards. Barnette leads the league in rushing with 737 yards.
A big matchup in AA Piedmont this week will be when Magna Vista takes on the Bulldogs. As it stands, the Warriors are in first, while Martinsville is in fourth.
Buddy Brown's team led the league in scoring this week after putting up 42 points on Patrick County. Buckner in the win.
